The Gardens

The gardens and a greenhouse allows students to learn about nature’s ecosystem through direct experience. There are gardens in between classroom buildings as well as adjacent to walkways. There is a small greenhouse where vegetables and flowers can continue growing in the winter months. The gardens are cared for by the students at all levels/ ages of the school. It has flowers that attract and support butterflies and honeybees, and produces food that the students prepare and eat, sell at farmers markets, and donate to local food shelters.

Forest Playground

The Forest Playground is a nature play space that includes walking trails and natural play equipment that blends into the forest. The students will have daily access to space, and it will be designed to have minimal impact on the trees and other natural, local plant growth. The students will have opportunities to build bird houses and feeders to also encourage birds to nest and share the forest home.
